What Should a Personal Website Answer First?

Perspective × Practice · Editorial draft · Updated 2026.10.06

Background, writing and collaboration inquiries can coexist on one website. Visitors need to know where to begin.

Give Visitors a Direction First

First-time visitors usually want to know who you are, what you care about and what is worth exploring. The first screen should establish direction with a positioning statement and a brief explanation, then offer one main entry point.

The homepage now uses Read my thinking as its main entry point, with an introduction and contact options alongside it. Management, Technology and AI offer routes based on the questions visitors care about.

Use Representative Writing to Provide Context

The homepage features a management reflection alongside a technical observation and an AI perspective. The archive’s starting reads follow the same three directions, taking visitors from an introduction to concrete judgments and trade-offs.

Experience-based reflections, technical observations, methods and scenarios serve different purposes. Their labels should make those differences clear. The management tool is a template for organizing a trade-off, not evidence of prior project results.

Let Writing Show How You Think

Experience-based reflections can show what the author did; methods and scenarios offer a starting point for discussion. Separate observations, inferences and missing evidence so readers can judge what can be cited and what needs further validation.

Offer a Clear Next Step

The contact section should explain what is worth discussing, what information helps start a conversation and how to get in touch. Without a receiving channel, visitors must not be led to believe a form has been sent.

The site provides a public email address and a LinkedIn profile, alongside a browser-based discussion brief tool. It organizes text without sending or storing it; visitors can copy it and start a conversation themselves. Opening an email app or LinkedIn profile does not mean a message has been delivered.
